Bullet Proof Vest Explained

It will save your life:

What is a bulletproof vest (also called Body Armor) exactly?

Its a personal armor capable of withstanding firearm-fired projectiles, and shrapnel from explosions.

It can do that thanks to multiple layers of special fabric (KevlarGold Flex), glued together in a way that maximizes their mechanical strength, and absorption ability.

These fibers absorb and disperse the impact energy that is transmitted to the vest from the bullet, causing the bullet to deform or mushroom.

The fabric fibers can be compared to the net of a soccer goal. In both cases, the lateral tension of the net spreads the energy of the impact along the net, thus decreasing tension on a singular point, and finally deflecting the energy back.

Although the vest stops the bullet it can still causes massive trauma, this can be avoided by the use of a trauma plate.

Our vests are made of Gold Flex fabric, which is much stronger and lighter then Kevlar.

The Gold Flex value on wikipedia states:

"Gold Flex is a fabric manufactured by Honeywell from synthetic fiber and often used in ballistic vests and body armor. Gold Flex is lighter then Kevlar, Twaron and other Ballistic material, yet offers the most bullet proof protection. The material used is very flexible and strong as well, which provides comfort for the individual using it, and is also tolerated for longer periods of time."
